I've arrived in Busan, again, last Wednesday. Despite how tired I was, that day I head straight to local supermarkets because I need to buy a new blanket. Foolishly, I sold my old blanket before I bought the new one. In the end I bought my senior's old blanket because I really like it's thickness.
Quite forgot for how many days since I post here the last time. I don't believe university life is gonna start next Monday. I want more holiday! I felt homesick the first day I came here again. Duh, I need to re-plan my summer plan. Should I go back to Indonesia or not?
By the way, I'm gonna post some pic latter regarding my junior's school orientation yesterday! It's really fun!
Phantom of the Opera
From February 14th until March 3th 2012, Jakarta will be filled with Phantom of the Opera theater. The performance is filled with New York theater cast and Opera stars. But the song wasn't composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber. It was composed by Ivan Jacobs, who to be said, had composed the musical first before Weber. Its famous stage sets were designed by the late Broadway legend, James Tilton. Marcia Madeira, the legendary award winning Broadway Lighting designer,
is in charge of the musical’s illumination and special lighting effects.
Award winning Costumer, Jose Rivera, is now in Hollywood, Finishing the
design for the Jakarta Production
—the site says.
I watched it last night. I think this is incredible. The stars sang all the songs beautifully. Their voices are just too great that at first my friends and I though they were lip sync-ing. BUT NO! Because some sound system problem, I was convinced that they really sang it.
There were 21 acts. In the beginning, I don't feel anything. My friend said they still warm up probably. But then after Christine Daae, Raoul, and Phantom came out, everything changed. Their voices are superior. I can't think anymore. I think Natalie Ramirez's voice is quite similar to Emma Rossum, but Natalie's voice is more operatic.
The story is quite different too. Though there are not many changes. In here, Christine didn't have feelings for Raoul like in 2004's movie. She was more attracted to Phantom whom she adore and loved.
I love their costumes too. They are beautiful.
I think Phantom of the Opera is really worth to watch. But prepare for 3 hours performance!—some people get out from the theater after the first part. I just can't think how the performers can sing like that for 3 weeks, every day, same song, with superb voice quality. It's just insane. They work harder than usual singers who probably only sing one or two gigs in a week! Wonderful!

behind the making,

This is my first commission in 2012! As always, scanning it was the most difficult stage. Drawing four people in an A4 was also a challenge for me. It's difficult. I'm happy they look really peaceful in their sleep!
It's a secret but: actually I forgot to draw the man's right hand, and just realized it after I finished giving shadows and lights.
I hope this family have their happy ending together! I love you Marionatte A. R. Zeev and Eyes Constantin-Pavarell (the hubby's names, lol).
Tools: A4 Paper, 2B & 4B pencil. :')
쌍둥이
쌍둥이 (Ssangdungi) means "Twins". The more I look into this pic, I think it represent Jacob and Esau though I didn't intend to draw them. The result is better than I've expected and I am satisfied.
I was inspired by Hagio Moto to color him. I read Marginal and Zankoku na Kami ga Shihai Suru, and I am captivated by her art work. They are just beautiful. You should try to read them!
So, I draw this pic long-long ago, probably in January, but then I don't feel like I want to color it so I abandon it first, move on to the next project which was Never Let Me Go. It is pretty simple, I sketch it on A4 sketch book, 80 gr, then scanned it. After that, I used Adobe Photoshop CS4 to color it. Thanks to Michalv on DeviantArt for her great star galaxy stock. Tam tam tam... I finished coloring it in one day! That's... pretty amazing for my caliber. Ha ha ha... I'm very happy to finished another work. Because in 2011 I'd been too procrastinated, so I'll be more diligent in 2012!---and This is already my third artwork in 2012. Wohoo!!
See you again! I need to go on my commission work.
Never Let Me Go
I was listening to Florence and the Machine when my mp3 player played "Never Let Me Go" and I understood what title should I gave to this work. It does not related to Never Let Me Go movie. Both of them are my original character for... probably upcoming idea... story... or whatever.
I'm quite surprised with the result actually. Since it's been such a long time I didn't make black & white sketch illustration, I thought that this would turn out bad. But unexpectedly it is better! Probably because I practiced black & white sketching in my uni. Though it is not 100% satisfying.
Their expressions... 오머나. Why they almost didn't have any expression (especially the guy) lol. Too stoic. Probably because my muse is always do stoic expression -__-. But hey, overall I like this work.
The Venice scenery behind is derived from my brother's photo when he was in Venice. But it was not 100% horizontal like I drew. Most of it, I imagine it and took many reference from ARIA manga. Oh, that is such a good manga. I feel like I want to read it again now.
This pic is about a woman searching for her lover and in the end she found him, asked him to never let her go anymore. Hope you all got the message ^__^
See you all another time! 다음에 또 봅시다!
First thing to say
I am not really sure but I think I need to start it since now is 2012. I've been wanted an art blog since long time ago but those plans were always fail. However, let's try it! This blog is also about some that gains my attention and some interesting story. :) I have some work order which I'll keep update here too.
